Public search sites hurtful or helpful?

Its great that an individual looking for a home can search on there own....but does that help us as Realtors or hurt us? In the end an agent is used to submit an offer....But the customer usually strings along multiple agents in the process....and is not loyal to any single agent until the property they want is found....Typically there is no way to know if a customer is working with mulitple agents....unless you ask the buyer....or the other agent tells you! :} I sometimes think the searches should be left up to the proffessionals....so we are actually needed to help find that perfect home!!
